About HEADING_TITLE

Hello and Welcome to my new adventure.

Where do I begin?

Well, I am the youngest of 7 children. YES!!! I did say 7.  And I'm the baby so..."You've got to love the baby." Being the youngest, my father always referred to me as "The Caboose."  Before I came along, there were 3 boys and 3 girls.  Upon my arrival, I earned my favorite nickname, "The tie breaker." Girls rule!!!

The place I have called home for years is LaGrange, Ga.   After graduating High School, I attended college in Atlanta, The American College for the Applied Arts.  During college, I had an unique opportunity to work part-time for a fabric design and color consulting firm, Liam Water's & Associates in LaGrange, Ga.  While working for Liam Water's & Associates, I learned how fabric is designed and woven into a finished product. After graduating from college, Liam Waters offered me a full-time position and I also was given the opportunity to work with David Oakey Designs.  Because David Oakey's team designs carpet, I learned how carpet is designed, colored and produced for the market place.

During my time working in LaGrange I met the man I was to marry.  He popped the question at a family picnic and I polled the audience.  The audience said, "Yes."  And, "yes" was the correct answer.   We were married in Oct. 2004.  My husband is currently in the US Army. (I believe that says it all).   After almost 10 years working for Liam Waters & Associates and David Oakey Designs, I left LaGrange to live with my new husband and to find new employment.  I found a creative job working with a photographer. This job was not meeting my creative need to work with fabric.  Since I earned a degree in Fashion Design, I thought that maybe I should do something in that field and I needed something that I can easily pick-up and move when the Army calls on my husband to move.  So when my husband and I had to make the next move to Fayetteville, NC, I took advantage of this opportunity to start my own business...Kathleen Tucker Handbags.

This is where my adventure begins.  These handbags are my own patterns. I try to find fabrics that are fun, unique, and have a creative color scheme.  All the handbags are sewn by me.

I would like to say a big THANK YOU to Liam and David for teaching me and giving me the opportunity to learn.  Understanding the production of fabric is an important element in the creation my handbags.

I would, also, like to say a hugh THANK YOU to my very own cheerleaders!!!  You know who you are. Go Team KT Handbags!!!

And to my Husband....
Words cannot express just how much your support, strength, friendship and love have been so important in this adventure.  Thank you so much Jerry!!! I love you with all my heart!

Kathleen
